The Lake Zurich Fire Rescue Department provides 24-hour fire and rescue services to residents, businesses and commuters covering an area of 25 square miles. Service is divided between the Village of Lake Zurich and the Lake Zurich Rural Fire Protection District.

With a population of approximately 40,000, protected areas include the entire Village of Lake Zurich and portions of: The Villages of North Barrington, Hawthorn Woods, Kildeer & Deer Park as well as some unincorporated areas of Cuba, Ela and Fremont Townships.

In 2009 the Department responded to 3,095 emergency responses.
